Jennings: A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Jules Catholic Church in Tee-Mamou on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at 10:00 AM honoring the life of Ruby Bergeaux, age 91, who was called from this life on June 18, 2012. Ms. Bergeaux will be laid to rest in St. Jules Cemetery with Father Blaine Clement officiating her services.

Ruby was born in Iota, LA to the late Paul Miller and the late Marietta Simar Miller on April 29, 1921. She was a homemaker and devoted her life to the care of her family. She was a resident of Evangeline for 60 plus years. Ms. Ruby was a member of St. Jules/St. Joseph Catholic Church. She also was a member of the Ladies Altar Society where she served as president for several years, a member of the Catholic Daughters, and the American Legion Ladies Auxillary. She worked as a welder during WWII where she built ships for which she received a commendation. Ms. Ruby was a member of the Tee-Mamou Rosary Group which met at her house weekly, when she could no longer drive. She loved to cook for her family, gardening, and she loved to fish. She liked to have coffee with her nieces and her neighbors. She was very dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Ms. Ruby leaves behind to cherish her memories four sons, Robert (Ethel Deshotel) Bergeaux of Jennings, Russell (Connie Richard) Bergeaux Jr. of Evangeline, Patrick (Pam Compton) Bergeaux of Lake Charles, and Leonard (Ann Nichols) Bergeaux of West Virginia; 11 grandchildren, and her 24 great grandchildren.

Ms. Ruby was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Paul and Marietta S. Miller; her husband, Russell Bergeaux, Sr.; her ten siblings, Mabel, Virgie, Nettie, Hazel, Vinice, Grant, Leo, Lorrine, Juanita, and her twin brother Rufus; and her nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Jennings, LA on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 from 2:30 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary recited at 7:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Thursday at 8:00 AM until the time of her funeral mass.

The Bergeaux family wishes to thank JDLC, her nurses, and CNA’s for her care. They would also like to give a heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Jennings American Legion Hospital, LA Hospice & Palliative Care, Dr. Patrick Griffith, and all the friends and neighbors concerned for Ms. Ruby’s care.

Carrying Ms. Ruby to her eternal resting place in St. Jules Cemetery will be Scott, Rustyn, and Thomas Bergeaux, Eric Deville, Tristan Babineaux, and Stephen Aresement.
