Martha Nell Moore Savoy

Jennings: Itís with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Martha Nell Savoy, age 87, announces her passing on August 7, 2012. Funeral services will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Jennings, LA on Friday, August 10, 2012 at 11 AM with burial following in Calvary Cemetery. Father Jeff Starkovich will be officiating her services.

Mrs. Savoy was a native of Columbia, MS and the daughter of John and Mary Moore. Joining the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps during WWII, she received her training at Charity Hospital School of Nursing in New Orleans where she later graduated from their School of Anesthesia in 1951. She worked as an anesthetist at the Jennings American Legion Hospital for twenty-six years retiring in 1986. Mrs. Savoy was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Church, Catholic Daughters of America, Ladies Altar Society, and Bereavement Committee. Mrs. Savoy is survived by her three sons, Justin Rougelot of Lake Charles, Frank Michael Savoy (wife, Pat) of Lafayette, and John Howard Savoy (wife, Janet) of Tishomingo, MS; her two daughters, Anne Katherine Molleur of Shawnee, OK and Marie Elizabeth Johnson (husband, Jim) of Jackson, MS; ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Mrs. Savoy also leaves behind to cherish her memory her three sisters, Mary Branton of Brookhaven, MS, Annie Bullock of Columbia, MS, and Patsy Brisler of Dunconville, TX.

Mrs. Savoy was preceded in death by her beloved parents, John and Mary Moore; and her husband, Dr. Frank A. Savoy.

Visitation will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Jennings, LA on Thursday, August 9th from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM and resume on Friday at 9:00 AM until the time of her funeral services.
