Sophie Lynn Thibodeaux

Jennings: It’s with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Sophie Lynn Thibodeaux announces her passing on August 20, 2012. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church with Father Charles McMillin officiating her services. She will be laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery.

Sophie Lynn was born in Jennings, LA on January 7, 1952. A courageous sister, she was to fight her battle with Friedreich’s Ataxia for 48 years before her journey ended. She was an accountant and a notary for 40 years. She loved animals especially her dogs, Sammie, Poochie, Baby, and Kitty the cat. She also enjoyed needle point, crocheting, and taking care of her plants. Sophie is survived by her beloved father and step mother, Hanson Joseph Thibodeaux and Minerva of Roanoke; her brother, Brad Thibodeaux (Gloria) of Thornwell; her two sisters, Kathryn Jurls of Jennings and Pamela Darbonne (Craig) also of Jennings; one step-brother, Todd Sittig (Dana) of OK; and three step sisters, Roxanne Moore (Bill) of Houston, TX, Sherry Wills (Kim) of Lake Charles, and Kana Richard (Todd) of Roanoke.

Sophie now rests in heaven with her beloved mother, Calponia “Cal” Breaux.

Visitation will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Wednesday, August 22nd from 3:30 PM until 9:00 PM with a scripture service at 6:30 PM followed by a rosary at 7:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Thursday at 8:00 AM until the time of her funeral mass.

Carrying Sophie to her eternal resting place will be Todd Darbonne, Dylan Benoit, Johnny Guinn, Lance Thibodeaux, Tony Loviere, and Randy Thibodeaux. Honorary pallbearer will be Darren Benoit.
