Sandra L. Batten, 69, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf. Private family services will be held. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Clarissa Cook Hospice House or to a charity of the donor’s choice. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
She was born May 15, 1938 in Grinnell, Iowa, the daughter of George & Mary (Blakley) Lockwood. On October 25, 1985, she married W. Wayne Batten in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Sandra worked for the Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company for many years, retiring in 1990.
Survivors include her beloved husband, Wayne Batten; dear son, Mark Pickering; mother, Mary Lockwood; sister, Marsha Brown; nephews, Rob and Martin Brown; and other members of the Batten and Cress families.
Sandra was preceded in death by her father and by her sister, Karen.
