Garry G. Anderson, 62, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died Tuesday, February 1, 2005 at Trinity at Terrace Park Medical Center, Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 5, 2005 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Burial will be in Andrew Cemetery, Andrew, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Quad-City Greyhound Adoptions, St. James Lutheran Church of Bettendorf or the Genesis Heart Failure Outpatient Center of Davenport.
He was born April 29, 1942 in Swaledale, Iowa, the son of Chester & Meryl (Proctor) Anderson. On June 22, 1970, he was united in marriage to Janene Ehlers in Maquoketa, Iowa.
Garry was employed as a supervisor at John Deere Plow & Planter Works of Moline and later at John Deere Harvester Works of East Moline. He retiring in 1995 after many years of faithful service.
He was a graduate of St. Ambrose University of Davenport and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
His memberships include St. James Lutheran Church and the Quad-City Greyhound Adoptions.
Garry had an abiding love for animals, especially Greyhounds. After the dog’s racing careers were over, Garry and others like him helped find the Greyhounds loving homes and caring families. His own three dogs, Diamond, Chester and Princess were treasured companions and were truly part of his family.
Those left to honor his memory include his beloved wife, Janene; his son & daughter-in-law, Eric & Jennifer Anderson of Davenport; his sister & brother-in-law, Merrilee & John Woeber of Moline, Illinois; his brother & sister-in-law, Richard & Marilyn Anderson of Centerville, Iowa; and several aunts, uncles & cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
