Stacey, we, too, often sat close to your family at church and were deeply saddened when we heard the news of your loss. Although we did not know your family well, the love you and Steve had for each other was always so evident. Knowing now the grief and sorrow you must have been experiencing today, at church, and yet were able to stand strong with your son, daughter and presumably mother, is a testament to your love for Steve. I only wish there were words we could offer to console you and your family during this difficult time. We do wish you Peace. A Peace that will settle in your heart, soul and mind. God Bless You and Your Family.

When I first read Steven's obituary in the North Scott Press I recognized the face but could not figure out how I knew him. Today at church it finally clicked. Your family and our family always sat close to each other. And our daughter was a teacher helper with you on Sunday mornings. We are very, very sad for your loss. It was obvious how mauch Steven cared for and loved you all. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this very difficult time. We pray that God will bless you and give you strength. Ray, Cindy, and Kim Wolf.

While looking at the QC Times on Friday, I happened upon a pending notice for a obit. The name Steve Bloyd jumped out at me. It threw me because of the city for which he lived, Long Grove. The Steve Bloyd I knew lived in Bettendorf as long as I knew him, but sadly, I had lost touch with him in the last few years. But the age was right, the name, so unique to me, was all too familiar. I prayed very hard that night, that the person was not my friend, Steve who's hair I cut from long to short, the Santa Claus who came into my salon with a "KISS" (my Hearshy's kiss) the faithful gentle giant who always had such kind words to say, and many, many stories the I simply loved to hear. But my prayers were not answered, sadly. The Saturday paper came and there was his smiling face, the one who's beard I would trim and puppy dog eyes I would look into as I cut his bangs. The tears I shed are for the wonderful friend I lost and the regret that I let so much time go by that I did not know he was sick. At this time of year, I realize the number of kids that will miss this simply fabulous person who was truly the kid that never grew up, looking at life through the eyes of a child who was too big for his body. I loved Steve, cut many strange hair cuts for him, and his devotion to my skills as he followed me from Bettendorf to Davenport to Princeton and then to Clinton, was beyond my scope of imagination. But this loving kind "kid" gave me my sence of what loyalty should be. I will truly miss knowing this man is alive in my world, but he will truly live in my heart forever. Peace to my gentle giant, and I am sure that the Lord met him at the gates of Heaven and said "Good Job Son, welcome home"

It is hard to find adequate words to express the pain and sorrow at the loss of Steve. He was so kind and helpful, strong and yet gentle, and such a delight to all who knew him. We pray for him to have a peaceful rest and for the Lord to console and strengthen his entire family.

No words can express my sympathy to you and your family. Steve was a joy to work with at Genesis. I loved flipping him grief and making him sweat. He spoke proudly of his family and you all were his inspiration. As a therapist, you take a handful of patients with you, and he will be one of the few. I am very sorry for your loss. Gail, PT
