Marilyn Joan Speth, 84, a resident of Princeton, Iowa died on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, Iowa.
As per Marilyn’s personal request, private family services will be held. Memorials may be made to the Christian Appalachian Project, Inc., P.P. Box 459, Hagerhill, Kentucky 41222 or the Clarissa Cook Hospice House. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
She was born January 18, 1925 in Donahue, Iowa, the daughter of Henry G. & Eugenia Iva (Snyder) Hoffmann. On August 9, 1946, she was united in marriage to Russell H. Speth in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Marilyn worked as a chef after many years as a homemaker. Her greatest interests in life were spending time with her family & friends and caring for her garden.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Susan L. (Gary) Steffey of Princeton, Mary E. (David) Mangels of LeClaire, Iowa and Nancy E. Wright of Burlington, Wisconsin; her sons, Steven J. (Therese) Speth of Bettendorf, Daniel D. Speth of Davenport, Iowa and Gregory J. (Roberta) Speth of Salem, Wisconsin; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; her brothers, Duane (Adeline) Hoffmann of Chandler, Arizona and Allan (Jeanette) Hoffmann of New Liberty, Iowa; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Linda; three sisters and two brothers.
