| | | Darren M. Briggs, 41, a resident of Davenport, Iowa died on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at the University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City, Iowa following an extended illness.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, September 14, 2009 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Bettendorf, Iowa. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery in Davenport. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.
He was born May 18, 1968 in Davenport, the son of Dale C. & Carol A. (Ludtke) Briggs and was a graduate of Davenport Central High School.
Darren worked as a floor technician for the Millard Group of Milan, Illinois. In addition, he owned & operated Briggs Lawn Care Service.
For many years, Darren was active in the Farmer’s Market. He & his mom made bread, cookies and other baked goods for the market. Darren was always willing to help other vendors and even bought a Ford Blazer for his mother to make it easier to take their items and equipment to the market. He was especially loyal to his family & friends and will always be fondly remembered by those who knew & loved him.
Those left to honor his memory include his mother, Carol A. Briggs of Davenport; his sisters, Debra Briggs of Davenport and Dawn Briggs of Milan, Illinois; his brothers, Dale (Wilma) Briggs in Michigan, Michael Briggs of Davenport, Bryan (Connie) Briggs of Bettendorf and Daniel Briggs of Couer d’Alene, Idaho; many nieces & nephews and his beloved dog, “Elwood.”
Darren was preceded in death by his brother, Timmy Briggs; his father, Dale Briggs, his grandparents and another canine companion, “Rocky.”
