Obituary: Gary W. Strawhacker Gary W. Strawhacker, 65, a resident of Davenport, Iowa died Friday, September 11, 2009 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf, Iowa. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the family. Gary was born December 19, 1943 in New Boston, Illinois the son of Clifford R. and Alwelda Lorraine (Fisher) Strawhacker. He was a graduate of Pleasant Valley High School, Pleasant Valley, Iowa and was a member of the schools wrestling team. He was united in marriage to Gloria Simpson on March 7, 1964 in Kahoka, Missouri. He worked at the John Deere Company in East Moline, Illinois for thirty-five years as a manager of the parts department. He was a member of the old First Assembly of God Tabernacle in Bettendorf. Gary enjoyed going to the Village Inn for coffee, watching the Weather Channel, fishing, mushroom hunting and riding motorcycles. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Bulls and Michael Jordan. Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Gloria, his daughters, Deborah (Daryl) Gonzales, Davenport, Jodi Strawhacker, Davenport and Melissa (Sherman) Williams, Davenport; his son Jeffrey (Amberly) Strawhacker, Davenport; his fifteen grandchildren; his fifteen great-grandchildren; his brothers, Ronald (Janet) Strawhacker, Pleasant Valley, Iowa, Richard “Dick” Strawhacker, Bettendorf, Everett (Debbie) Strawhacker, Davenport and Terry Strawhacker, Bettendorf as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Kevin Strawhacker and his daughter, Michelle Baez.
