Robert Junior Paulsen, 80, a resident of Davenport, Iowa died Friday, October 30, 2009 at Ridgecrest Village in Davenport, Iowa
A memorial service to celebrate Robert’s life will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at the Newcomb Presbyterian Church, Davenport, Iowa. The family will greet friends at a luncheon following the service at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Newcomb Presbyterian Church or the American Heart Association. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf, Iowa is assisting the family with arrangements.
Robert was born November 12, 1928 in Fairfield Township, Iowa the son of Amos Christian and Bertha Mary Louise (Nienkark) Paulsen. He was married to Gwen Kenny and they had three sons together. They later divorced. On December 19, 1980 he married Marilyn Jean Remer Beguhn in Davenport, Iowa
He worked in custom farming, haying, ran a corn sheller and worked at a lumber yard. Robert also assisted at the former Kelly Mortuary in Grand Mound, Iowa. He ran a lathe for the Mississippi Engineering Company, worked for J.I. case for 9 months, and owned a gas station for a couple years. Robert then started farming in Clinton County. He worked for the Caterpillar Tractor Co from 1964 until retirement in 1989 when the Davenport, Iowa plant closed. He farmed all his life even while employed at Cat.
Those left to honor his life include his wife, Marilyn; his sons Steven Robert (Dawn) Paulsen, Russell Alan (Mary) Paulsen, William Herald (Nancy) Paulsen and Bruce (Christine) Beguhn; his daughter, Renee (Mike) Coffman; fifteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and one niece and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Helen Schmidt and Darlene Doermann, his brother, Merle Paulsen and one niece.
