Jean A. Parrick, 74, a resident of LeClaire, Iowa died on Sunday, November 1, 2009 at her home.
A memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Thursday, November 5, 2009 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Bettendorf, Iowa. Graveside services will be at 9:00 A.M. Friday at Glendale Cemetery, LeClaire. Contribution in Jean’s memory may be made to the Amenity Hospice of Davenport, Iowa.
She was born May 30, 1935 in Marquette, Iowa, the beloved daughter of Edward & May (Ruckhaber) Thornton. On November 3, 1950, she was united in marriage to Harold L. “Ozzie” Parrick in LeClaire. Ozzie preceded her in death on January 4, 2001.
Jean was a devoted wife, mother & grandma who dearly loved her entire family. They will sadly miss her, but her memories will live forever in their hearts. She was an “outdoors” type of person who enjoyed caring for her garden & yard. Wherever she went, there were friends to visit with and stories to share.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Chris Thompson and Colleen Parrick, both of LeClaire; her grandchildren, Amber (Jason) Thompson of Davenport, Sheldon (Kristi) Thompson of New Berlin, Wisconsin and Megan (Tim) VanWychen of Davenport; her great-grandchildren, Gabriella & Noah Thompson; her sisters, Nita Bowers of Bettendorf, Joan Tabor of LeClaire and Judy (Bill) Paxston of LeClaire; and her brother, Tony (Kate) Thornton of Princeton, Iowa.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her great-grandson, Diezel Beck; her sisters, Unie, Marge & Duff; her brother, Tom Thornton and a very special friend, David Scholey.
