William E. “Bill” Gimm, 62, of LeClaire, died Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at Trinity at Terrace Park in Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, November 7, 2009 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be on Monday at the Rock Island National Cemetery in Rock Island with military services conducted by the Buffalo Bill American Legion Post 347 of LeClaire. Those wishing to attend the committal service should meet at the funeral home by 10:30 A.M. on Monday. Memorials may be made to the family.
Bill was born May 5, 1947 in Davenport, the son of George & Ruth (Roller) Gimm. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict and was honorably discharged in May of 1970. Bill was united in marriage to Kathleen J. Kipper on July 21, 1972 in Pleasant Valley, Iowa.
Bill had been employed in appliance repair and had also served as a consultant in that field. He was a member of the Buffalo Bill American Legion Post 347 in LeClaire and enjoyed fishing, reading and the company of his brothers with whom he was close.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife Kathy and his son, Adam, of LeClaire; his sisters, Ruth (Joseph) Goin of Blue Grass, Iowa and Nancy (Don) Golden of Florida; his brothers, George (Augustina) Gimm of LeClaire, Patrick (Martha) Gimm of Davenport and Thomas (Renata) Gimm of Mascoutah, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Terry Rossmiller.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Robert & Michael.
