Gottfried A. Rothenberger, 82, a Klingville Rd., Chassell, passed away Thursday, april 9, 2009, at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born on December 22, 1926, in Chassell, a son of the late Gottfried J. and Martha (Hoffman) Rothenberger and attended the Chassell School. He was a veteran of W.W. II having served with the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Martha Kemppainen on September 23, 1950 and she died on November 3, 2004. Mr. Rothenberger worked construction most of his lifetime and retired from Pettibone Corporation in Baraga in 1989. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. Preceding him in death were 15 brothers and sisters Surviving are: His sons: Randy (Theresa) Rothenberger of Racine, WI Dana Rothenberger of Klingville Brian (Maggie) Rothenberger of Liminga Mike Rothenberger of L’Anse His daughter: Renee (Rick) Forsell of Portage Entry His sister: Gertrude (August) Marinelli of Hancock Seven grandchildren: Rick, Kelly, Travis, Niles, Paden, Cora Rothenberger and Shanna (Frank) Cherubini, great grandchildren, Special friend and brother-in-law, Allen Tapani of Klingville, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, and special friends, Fred (Lorraine) Lassila of Klingville and Harry (Rose) Piggot of North Carolina. Funeral services for Mr. Rothenberger will be held 2 pm Monday April 13, 2009 in the Memorial Chapel Funeral home of Chassell with Rev. Bucky Beach to officiate. Spring burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery of Houghton. Friends may call on Monday April 13, 2009 from 12 noon until time of services at the funeral home.
