Mr. Wesley J. Pelto

Dollar Bay Wesley J. Pelto, 78, a resident of Dollar Bay, passed away Friday evening May 15, 2009, at home following a battle with cancer. He was born on February 3, 1931, in Boston Location, a son of the late Anton and Ina (Jankala) Pelto. As a child, he attended the Cloverland School. For over the past 48 years, Wesley has made his home in Dollar Bay. On November 1, 1958, he was united in marriage to the former Arlene Yrjana and the couple has spent the past 50 years together. Mr. Pelto had worked for the C&H Mining Company, as a miner. He then worked for the Peninsula Gas Company, where he retired from as a welder. Wesley was a devoted husband and father, who enjoyed the basics of life, working around the house and spending time with his family. Preceding him in death where his parents, his brothers; Ray Pelto, William Pelto, and Arthur Pelto; his sisters: Ida Comina, Alma Raasio, Lillian Heikkinen, Sophia Tormala, Hilja Murto, and Nelma Nelson. Surviving are: His wife: Arlene Pelto of Dollar Bay His children: Gregg Pelto of Dollar Bay Cary Pelto of Thoreau, NM Lynn James of Ishpeming, MI His grandchildren: Jonathon Pelto of Dollar Bay Jeremy Pelto of Dollar Bay Stephanie James of Gillette, WY Jesse James of Gillette, WY Jacklyn Pelto of Green Bay, WI His great granddaughter: Brooke Penegor of Green Bay, WI His sister: Ruth (Clyde) Nikkinen of Toledo, OH Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins A private graveside service for Wesley will be held at a later date in the Waasa Cemetery.
