Allen John Jacob Tapani, 85, a resident of Klingville, passed away Sunday evening August 2, 2009, at his home, with his family by his side.
He was born on June 29, 1924, in Liminga, a son of the late Jacob and Anna (Pikku) Tapani. As a child, he moved to Klingville and he graduated from the Chassell School. Mr. Tapani has also resided in Detroit, Minnesota, and since 1954 has made his home in Klingville.
On June 21, 1947, he was united in marriage to the former Elizabeth Rothenberger and she preceded him in death on November 25, 2006.
Allen was employed with the C & H Mine, Celotex Company in L’Anse, and had owned and operated Tapani Strawberry Farm for over 30 years. During that time, he was named Strawberry King on three separate occasions.
Mr. Tapani was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Chassell. He enjoyed the outdoors hunting, fishing, next to spending time with his grand children and great grand children. His greatest joy was gardening.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Elizabeth, his daughter and son-in-law; Susan and Glenn Walitalo, his grandchild Lucas, his parents, his brother, Arthur Tapani, and his sister, Elvie Tapani.

Funeral services for Allen will be held 2 pm Wednesday August 5, 2009, at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Chassell with Rev. Scott Williams to officiate. Burial will be in the Chassell Cemetery.
Friends may call on Tuesday August 4, 2009, from 5 to 8 pm at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Chassell and on Wednesday August 5, 2009 from 1 pm until time of services at the church.
