Bertha (Rudy) Larson, 84, a resident of Portage Township passed away early Sunday morning August 9, 2009, at the Cypress Manor Nursing Home in Hancock where she had been a resident patient for the past 1 and half years. She was born on December 26, 1924, in Kimball, WI, a daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (Rinto) Aho. As a child, she moved with her family to Tri mountain where she attended and graduated from the Painesdale High School with the class of 1943. On June 23, 1945, Bertha was united in marriage to Rudolph Larson and the couple recently celebrated 64 years of marriage. The couple has resided in Liminga, Onnela, Chassell and since 1983 had made their home in Portage Township. Mrs. Larson was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Houghton and the local Farm Bureau. She enjoyed bowling as a young adult, and more recently she enjoyed watching her, daughters and granddaughters play softball and grandchildren play basketball. Preceding her in death were her grandson Darin Larson, her parents, her sisters, Ruth Aho, Irene Stephens, and Sylvia Fromm, and her brothers, Andrew, Edward, Phillip, and Leonard. Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette David (Ruth) Ahonen of Chassell Her sister-in-law: Ellen Lampi a resident patient at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility Her brother-in-laws: Henry Stephens of Vulcan, MI Ray (Sylvia) Larson of Portage Township Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins Funeral Services for Bertha will be held 11:00 am Wednesday August 12, 2009, at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Houghton with Richard Eskola to officiate. Burial will be in the Liminga Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday August 11, 2009, from 4 to 8 pm at First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Houghton and on Wednesday from 10 am until time of services at the church.
