| | | Exie M. (Roney) Gilmore, age 101 passed away Tuesday morning, February 17, 2009 at the Franklin United Methodist Community. She was a resident of Franklin and former resident of Morgantown.
Exie was born May 14, 1907 in Martinsville to the late William and Martha Eulalie (Bond) Roney. She married her loving husband John C. Gilmore on September 1, 1925 in Martinsville. He preceded her in death on December 8, 1994 after sixty-nine years of marriage.
Exie was a 1925 graduate of Morgantown High School. She was a Homemaker and worked as an Office Assistant for Dr. Billingsly in Franklin.
Exie was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Franklin since 1939 where she participated in the Gleaner Class and was a former member of the Morgantown United Methodist Church. She was the Founder and Past President of the Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority in Franklin, Past President of the Women's Christian Services in Franklin and a member of the Daughters of American Revolution.
Exie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was very active in the Franklin United Methodist Community and never met a stranger. Exie enjoyed going out to eat, playing in several Bridge Clubs and knitting.
Survivors include four nieces: Betsy Ashcroft & Sandra Lewis both of Franklin and Martha (Don) Sichting of Trafalgar; one nephew: Donald (Ann) Adams of South Padre Island, TX; and close friend: Doris Mudd of Nineveh.
She was preceded in death by two sisters: Wilma Adams & Martha Faucett; one brother: Elmer Roney; one niece: Jo Ann Reed
Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority will conduct a Memorial Service 12:00 PM Saturday in the Wright Chapel of the Franklin United Methodist Community, 1070 W. Jefferson Street in Franklin followed by the Rev. John S. Eley conducting the funeral service. Friends may call from 10 am till service time on Saturday. A meal will be provided by the Morgantown United Methodist Church following the burial at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
Funeral services have been entrusted to Meredith - Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Exie to the Franklin United Methodist Community "Memorial Fund" 1070 W. Jefferson St. Franklin, IN 46131.
