Julia Ann (Johnson) Alcorn, age 96 passed away Saturday afternoon, February 21, 2009 at Homeview Health & Rehabilitation Center in Franklin. She was a former resident of Morgantown.

Julia was born November 22, 1912 in Otwell to the late Ray and Edna (Trayler) Johnson. She married Robert W. Alcorn on August 22, 1931 in Washington. He preceded her in death on July 21, 1997 after sixty-five years of marriage.

She was a loving mother to one son: Robert J. (Pauline) Alcorn of Greenwood; two daughters: Donna J. LaFary of Bargersville & Nancy L. (David) McLain of Woodstock, GA. Julia was a grandmother to seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter: Janice Ann Voiles; one brother: James Veryl Johnson: two sisters: Jean Burkett & Olive Kirby; one grandson: Gary Parton.

Julia was a Homemaker and a member of the Otwell Methodist Church. Her great passions were her family and hobbies. She loved gardening, growing beautiful plants & flowers and researching her family history. Julia was a loyal wife, a caring grandmother and a devoted mother. Her beautiful smile and sweet, gentle nature will live on in the memories of those who knew and loved her. She will be indescribably missed.

The Rev. Roy Ice will conduct a funeral service at 12:00 pm, Wednesday at Meredith - Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 10 am till time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery Morgantown.
