Mary E. (Karabon) Phelps, age 67 passed away Sunday morning, March 1, 2009 surrounded by her loyal family at her residence in Brown County.

She was born March 28, 1941, in Owega, NY, to the late Pete and Martha (Allen) Karabon. Mary married her loving husband of fifty-two years Jack R. Phelps on April 13, 1956 in Corynth, Mississippi. He survives.

Other survivors include three sons: Randall R. (Sandy) Phelps of Princes Lakes, Troy T. Phelps of Westville and Jack Bradley (Julie) Phelps of Brown County; one daughter: Sherry L. (Earl) Richhart of Brown County; one brother: Eugene Wandling of New Point; three sisters: Janie Burge of Martinsville, Judy Thompson of Greencastle and Darlene Batcher of Bloomington; nine grandchildren & six great grandchildren.

Mary retired in 2005, as the owner of the Country Livin Pet Center in Bean Blossom where she worked as a Pet Groomer. Prior to that, her and her husband owned and operated Jungle Jack’s Pet Center in Bean Blossom for twenty-two years.

She was a loving wife, mother and homemaker who always was there to help, care and pray for those in need. Mary was a member of the New Life Community Church in Brown County since 1993. She had a passion for all types of animals and enjoyed taking in stray and sick animals to care for. Mary loved to read her Bible, collected Angels and spending time with her grandchildren.

The Rev. Gerald Nuzum will conduct a funeral service 10:30 AM Wednesday at Meredith - Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Unity Baptist Church Cemetery in Brown County.

Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Mary to the Brown County Humane Society
