| | | Marguerite (Norman) Voiles, age 91 passed away Tuesday evening, April 21, 2009 at the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin. She was a life long resident of Morgantown.
Marguerite was born December 23, 1917 in Morgantown to the late Walter S. and Mae (Dunham) Norman. She married her loving husband of forty-eight years Gaile Wayne Voiles on July 19, 1934 in Bedford, Kentucky. He preceded her in death on December 9, 1982.
Marguerite was the loving mother of one son: Jack and his wife Shirley Voiles and one daughter: Betty and her husband Max Hayworth all of Morgantown. She was a cherished grandmother to her six grandchildren: Michael Scott Hayworth of Fort Worth, TX, Ann McClary of Trafalgar, Paul Voiles, Rhonda Tucker, Karen Ward and Mark Voiles all of Morgantown. Marguerite was an inspiration to her seventeen great grandchildren and will be remembered by her three brothers: Clayton Norman of Birdseye, Loren Dale Norman of Indianapolis and Wayne Norman of Martinsville.
Marguerite was preceded in death by her sister: Reva Brewer-Tucker and three brothers: Linus, Paul and Darrell Norman.
She was a member of the Morgantown United Methodist Church and attended the Morgantown Baptist Church. She also was a member of the Morgantown Senior Citizens Center. Marguerite enjoyed cooking, crocheting & sewing and fashion. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, fishing and wintering in Marco Island, FL.
Marguerite retired in 1985, as the owner and operator of Gailes Gas & Electric in Morgantown after thirty-seven years of service which was established by she and her husband in 1948. Prior to that, she and her husband owned Fortville Electric in Fortville, IN from 1944 to 1947. Marguerite also worked at the George Canning Factory in Morgantown during the 1930’s.
The Rev. Ben Swopes will conduct a funeral service 1 pm Friday at Meredith - Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery in Morgantown.
