| | | Hobert A. "Ag" Brock, age 85 passed away peacefully at his residence in Trafalgar on Friday afternoon, May 8, 2009. At his side, was his loving wife of sixty-five years Lillie Mae (Seal) Brock whom Ag married on October 27, 1943 in Morgantown.
He was born August 23, 1923 in Cincinnati, OH to the late Sim France and Virgie (Simpson) Brock.
Ag will be remembered and cherished by his children: Inez “Sis” and her husband Buckey Walters of Trafalgar, LaVerne and her husband Ronnie Mays of Shelbyville, Lillie Perry of Bedford, Herbert Brock of Gosport, Roger and his wife Tammy Brock of Brown County, Fred and his wife Karen Brock of Brown County, Ronald Brock of Trafalgar, Troy Brock of Brown County and Hubert and his wife Beverly Brock of Martinsville. He will be missed by his four sisters and two brothers: Irene Moore of Bargersville, Lottie Collins of Brown County, Beulah Hatfield of Modesto, Ca, Doris Arnold of Brown County, Lester Brock and Sim Brock both of Brown County. Ag was an inspiration to his thirty-three grandchildren and several great & great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters: Nellie Joe Brock & Jewel Brock; four brothers: Rufus, Lloyd, Edgar & Morris Brock.
Ag served with the United States Navy during World War II with the Amphibious Group #59. He attended the Spearsville Wesleyan Church in Brown County.
Ag retired in 1989 as the owner and operator of Brock Excavating after 35 years of service.
Ag loved bluegrass festivals and enjoyed singing & playing his guitar with his family. He was a fan of Indiana University Basketball and professional football. Ag enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, rabbit hunting and working in his vegetable garden. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.
The Revs. Ed Tharpe, Tommy Phillips & J.C. Phillips will conduct a funeral service at 10:00 am, Thursday at Meredith - Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 to 8 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Spearsville Wesleyan Church Cemetery in Brown County with Military Graveside Rites presented by the Brown County Veterans Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Ag to the Spearsville Wesleyan Church Cemetery, 9174 Upper Bean Blossom Road Trafalgar, IN 46181.
