Paul Edward “Snuffy” Smith age 66 passed away Friday evening, July 10, 2009 at Kindred Hospital in Greenwood. He was a resident of Morgantown.

Paul was born September 30, 1942 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi to Paul L. Smith and the late Mable Lee (Odom) Smith.

After graduating from High School, Paul went on to serve his country as an Airman First Class with the 4625 Air Base Squadron of the United States Air Force from 1963 to 1967. After the service, he went on to obtain a degree in Forestry from Linn-Benton Community College in Albany, OR.

Paul was a member of the Bean Blossom Mennonite Church for the past 10 years, a member of the Melrose Masonic Lodge #671 in Norwood, OH, the Hamblen Township Civic League of Brown County and the Capital City Conservation Club of Indianapolis.

Paul was a welder by trade and last worked for Rayburn Racing in Franklin. He enjoyed racing stock cars and dirt bikes. His true passion was fishing and keeping Bass Pro Shop in business. Paul enjoyed bowling, NASCAR with his favorite driver being Tony Stewart and spending time with his family.

Paul was the loving father of two daughters: Teresa K. and her husband, John Shinkle of Batavia, OH and Laura L. and her husband, David Best of Berea, KY; son to: Paul L. Smith and his wife, Shirley of Hillsboro, OH; grandpa to: Joseph Shinkle of Cincinnati, OH, Nicole Trimble of Hamilton, OH, Jacqueline McIntyre of Berea, KY, Erin Shinkle of Batavia, OH, Daniel McIntyre of Middletown, OH and Eric Shinkle of Batavia, OH; brother to: Mary Ann Lefker of Williamsburg, OH, Linda Sue Smith of Batavia, OH and Walter A. Smith of Upper Sandusky, OH; step brother to: Mike Weigel of Cincinnati, OH & Bobby Weigel of Williamsburg, OH, April Mullins of Upper Sandusky, OH, Carol Trainor of Amelia, OH, Sonja Puckett of Amelia, OH, Diana Vamos of Withamsville, OH and Faith Maupin of Oak Ridge, TN. Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a step-sister: Tonya Weigel Miller.

The Rev. Burt Brock will conduct a funeral service 12 pm on Thursday at Meredith - Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry St. in Morgantown. Friends may call from 10 am till service time on Thursday at the funeral home. A Masonic Service will be conducted by the Morgantown Masonic Lodge #358 immediately following the funeral service on Thursday. Burial will be at the Gosport Cemetery in Gosport. Military graveside rites will be presented by the Martinsville American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Honor Guards.
