| | | James D. “Jim” Abbott, age 39 past away as a result of an automobile accident Monday morning, September 21, 2009 . He was a resident of Morgantown.
He was born March 27, 1970 in Bloomington to Walter and Mary (Witt) Abbott who survive in Morgantown. He married his loving wife Melonie L. (Meadows) Abbott on October 5, 2002 in Trafalgar. She survives.
Jim is survived by two daughters: Leanne Bailey Rossell of Morgantown & Anna Lee Abbott of Indianapolis, three sons: David James, Colton Lee James, Ethan Lee James Abbott all of Morgantown: two sisters: Karen A. (Steve) Hickman of Morgantown & Kathy E. (Brian) Van Winkle of Morgantown: one brother: Jeff L. Abbott of Carlisle; and in laws: Don & Kathy Meadows of Trafalgar.
Jim served as a Private during Desert Storm with the Indiana National Guard from 1989 -1991.
He worked as a Floor Covering Specialist with Santarossa Mosaic and Tile Company in Indianapolis for the past nine years.
Jim attended the Morgantown Baptist Church and was a member of the Floor Covers Union, Local 364 in Indianapolis. He enjoyed doing small engine repair, deer hunting and participating in the local demolition derbys. Jim loved spending time with his family, being outdoors and riding dirt bikes with his children.
The Rev. Ben Swopes will conduct a funeral service at 10:30 am, Thursday at Meredith - Clark Funeral Home Cremation and Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown with Military Rites will be presented by the Martinsville American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Honor Guard. Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
