Cecil Moore, age 91 passed away Monday morning, September 28, 2009 at Brown County Health & Living Community in Nashville. He was a resident of Brown County.

Cecil was born October 1, 1917 in Trimble Co., KY to the late Harry A. & Rosetta (Campbell) Moore. He married his loving wife of thirty-one years Dolores I. (Clephane) on April 2, 1978 in Brown County. Dolores survives in Morgantown.

Survivors include his children: Vickie (Ron) Shepherd of Nashville, Barry Travis (Shelia) Moore of Indianapolis and Ronald (Connie) Mathews of Martinsville; five grandchildren: Ryan Mathews, Shelly Fredrick, Mandy Clauser, Justin Moore and Jeremy Hill; twelve great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters: Norie Moore & Carrie Phillips; five brothers: Ed, Sylvester, Morris, Bud and Bob Moore; two grandsons: Shane Mathews and Michael Dodson.

Cecil retired in 1990 as a School Bus Driver for Head Start Schools in Brown County. Prior to that, he held the same position from 1956 to 1976 with the Brown County School Corporation. From 1958 to 1978, Cecil hauled water in Morgan and Brown Counties and from 1960 to 1985 he owned and operated Moore’s Septic Tank Service.

Cecil was a thirty year member of both the Neighborhood Church of God and Hickory Ridge Senior Center both of Brown County. He loved to play country music with his guitar and sing Bluegrass. He played his music in church and at Bill Monroe’s Bluegrass Festivals. Cecil enjoyed raising cattle, chickens and ponies on his farm. He was a patron at many of the local restaurants where he visited with his friends.

The Rev. Sam Harrington will conduct a funeral service 11 am Thursday at Meredith - Clark Funeral Home Cremation and Personalization Center, 179 E. Mulberry Street in Morgantown. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery Morgantown.

Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Cecil to the South Central Hospice of Indiana, 2626 17th Street Columbus, IN 47201.
