James J. Gorman, age 76 passed away Thursday afternoon, October 22, 2009 at Kindred Hospital South in Greenwood. He was a resident of Edinburgh.

James was born September 28, 1933 in Indianapolis to the late Thomas and Velma E. (Beach) Gorman.

He is survived by his companion and caregiver: Marjorie Frank of Shelbyville; six daughters: Patricia Rogers of Shelbyville, Donna Jaffke and her husband, Tom of New Mexico, Sandra Lacy and her husband, Jim of Shelbyville, Mary Rouse and her husband, Louie of New Whiteland, Janet Blum of New Whiteland, Karen Padgett and her husband, Troy of Florida; one son: James Joseph Gorman and his wife, DeAnn of Greenwood; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

James was preceded in death by his second wife: Betty (Crosby) Gorman; grandson: Gregory Ryan Day and a great granddaughter: Starla Day.

He served with the Indiana Air National Guard and retired from Skilled Trades as a Boilermaker which he was a member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermaker's Union Local 374. Other memberships include St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Franklin and the American Legion Post #0233 in Edinburgh.
He enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. James was a fan of the Indianapolis Colts and loved to ride motorcycles.
Father Don Quinn will conduct a funeral service 2 pm Tuesday at Calvary Hill Chapel in Calvary Cemetery, 435 W. Troy Avenue in Indianapolis. Friends may call from 1:30 pm until service time at the Chapel. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Indianapolis.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Meredith - Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
