Cobleskill-George P. Long, 88, of Hammerstone Village Apartments, died Thursday, October 15, 2009 at Otsego Manor, following a brief illness.
Born March 20, 1921 in Brooklyn, George was a son of Richard and Mary (Coombs) Long. He was one of fifteen children.
Mr. Long retired from Stony Brook University in Long Island, where he was employed in the maintenance department.
He moved to Cobleskill seventeen years ago, after residing in North Carolina.
Survivors include his six children: Cynthia Long of Lilie, France, Kenneth Long of Cobleskill, George Long, Jr. of Center Reach, Dennis Long of Manorville, Jeffrey Long of Deer Park, Timothy Long of Port Jefferson; a brother, Michael Long of Long Island; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be private at the family’s request.
