Hack Thi Cam was born in North Vietnam on February 8, 1923. She later moved to Thailand. Hack was united in marriage to Cheuang Van Cam. To this union ten children were born.

In 1980 Hack and her family moved to the United States where they made their home near George and Matlock. In 1997 Cheuang died and Hack lived with her children in various communities.

Hack was educated in Sheldon at the ESL School. She was employed in George where she did ceramics. She always had a large garden. Hack also loved making clothes for her grandchildren and did beautiful sewing for herself. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Hack died Thursday, April 2, 2009 at PARC Hall in Emmetsburg, Iowa at the age of 86. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Khoun Van Cam in 1995 and Vong Van Cam in 1981; a grandson; and a brother.

She is survived by her children, Mone Keoninh of Ruthven, IA, Chanh Cam of Sheldon, IA, Lain Cam of Seattle, WA, Vieng Cam of Sheldon, IA and Kate Ackhavong of South Sioux City, NE; six grandsons; twelve granddaughters; several great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Phanw Quang of Worthington, MN; as well as many other relatives and friends.
