Ruby Power, daughter of Hans and Kristine (Petersen) Nelsen, was born May 3, 1911 in Audubon, Iowa. She received her education in Audubon.
On December 2, 1935 Ruby was united in marriage to Paul H. Power in Atlantic, Iowa. In 1939 Ruby and Paul moved to Ayrshire and then to Ruthven in 1946. Ruby and Paul owned and operated the Ruthven Café from 1953 until 1966.
Ruby was a member of the United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women in Ruthven.
Ruby enjoyed baking and crocheting. She and Paul enjoyed watching T.V. together and after Paul’s death Ruby began reading to pass her time.
Ruby died Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at the Ruthven Community Care Center at the age of 98. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Raymond and Thomas Nelsen; and an infant sister.
She is survived by her sister, Virginia Dobson of Oregon; as well as other relatives and friends.
