Betty Lou Loomis, daughter of Charles and Ivah Marie (Bennett) Allen, was born January 19, 1924 in Sioux Rapids, Iowa. She received her education at Silver Lake Township School, graduating in 1942.

On October 7, 1948 Betty was united in marriage to Lester L. Loomis in Spencer, Iowa. To this union seven children were born. Betty was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church and church circle in Ayrshire. She was active with dinner date and was a volunteer at the Ruthven Community Care Center.
Betty enjoyed doing crafts, making angels, dish scrubbers and miniature chairs out of tin cans. She was active in weekly card club and she always had to be the scorekeeper.

Betty passed away Monday, December 7, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City, Iowa at the age of 85. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lester; and a daughter, Sally Loomis; sisters, Ilene Moodie, Darlys Utecht, June Allen and Shirley Nath; brothers, Harland “Skip Allen and Derald Allen; a son-in-law, Don Heiman.

She is survived by her children David Loomis and his wife, Tari of Camarallo, CA, Trudy Heiman of Grand Junction, CO, Daniel Loomis and his wife, Viola of Ottumwa, IA, Nancy Doubek and her husband, Doug of Centennial, CO, Michael Loomis of Reedsburg, WI, and Barbara Loomis of Fairfield, CA; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one brother, Don Allen of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; one sister, Garnet Allen of Minneapolis, MN; as well as many other relatives and friends.
