Linda Lou Storey, daughter of Henry and Jenny (Stangel) Hinders, was born June 20, 1950, in Spirit Lake, Iowa. She received her education in Spirit Lake and graduated from Spirit Lake High School.

On August 13, 1967, Linda was united in marriage to Dennis Storey. To this union three children were born.

Linda was employed at several restaurants and bars in the area, until they owned and operated The Runaway in Ruthven. She then opened Lindy’s Steakhouse and Lounge in Dickens. Linda was an excellent cook, and had a large clientele of customers due to her fabulous meals. Linda was famous for her Porterhouse steak that she served. People also enjoyed her hospitality and friendliness at the restaurant. When Linda wasn’t cooking, she loved going on fishing trips in northern Minnesota and Canada. Catching large northerns was a huge highlight for her. Linda was also an avid NASCAR fan and Jeff Gordon was one of her favorite racers.

Linda passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at Lakes Regional Hospital in Spirit Lake, Iowa, at the age of 62, after a very brief illness. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Peggy Arndt and Suzy Rose; and a granddaughter, Melissa Storey.

She is survived by her children, Denny Storey and his wife, Kimberly of Spencer, Iowa, Jamie Storey and his fiancée, Heather Kruse of Spencer, Iowa and Christina Steffen of Dickens, Iowa; their father, Dennis Storey of Dickens, Iowa; grandchildren, Adam Storey, Shania Storey, Morgan Storey, Michael Storey, Elle Storey, Tyler Storey and Jaydi Steffen; great grandchildren, Addison and Carson Storey; a brother, Jerry Hinders of Montgomery, Iowa; a sister Connie Morisch of Long Prairie, Minnesota; several nieces and nephews; as well as many other relatives and friends.
