| | | Phyllis E. Bergman, 76, Martinsville, died at 7 p.m. Feb.15, 2008, at Select Specialty Hospital in Beech Grove.
She was born Sept. 27, 1931 in Morgan County.
She married Jack K. Bergman on Feb. 27, 1953. He survives in Martinsville.
She was a registered nurse for more than 40 years, working at Morgan Hospital and Medical Center and Bloomington Hospital. She also worked for several area doctors.
She was a 60+ year member of the First Baptist Church in Martinsville.
She was a member of the Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority and American Legion Auxillary Post #230.
She was a 1952 graduate of the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing.
She enjoyed traveling, reading and time spent with her family.
Other survivors include four daughters, Rhonda Hamilton of Indianapolis, Karen Goldman of Durango, Colo., Sheila Chafin of Boston and Sandra Dixon of Florida; a brother, Perry Dale Griffin; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
The celebration of life service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Neal and Summers Mortuary in Martinsville. The Rev. Roger Smith will officiate.
Visiting hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.
Burial will be in New South Park Cemetery in Martinsville.
