Ted J. Asher, 71, of Mesa, Arizona, died on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at the Banner Gardens Inpatient Hospice in Mesa, AZ. He had lived in Arizona for the past 20 years, coming from Martinsville.

He is the son of the late James and Pearl (Hale) Asher. He was born on August 10, 1936 in London, Kentucky.

He married Ida (Taylor) Staley Asher on March 1, 1978. She survives in Arizona.

He was a retired, self-employed carpenter and a member of the Calvary Heights Baptist Church in Martinsville.

He enjoyed woodworking, bowling and playing golf.

Survivors include his wife, Ida; three sons, Ted Asher, Jr. of Indianapolis, Charles Alan Asher of Avon and Howard James Asher of Bloomington; four daughters, Lorna Griffin and Rita McKinney both of Indianapolis, Brenda Kiger of Coatsville and Tammy Corriveau of Bloomington; one step-daughter, Linda Pratt of Martinsville and one step-son, Bill Staley of Winter Park, FL; seventeen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; and two sisters, Mabel Ridener and Stella Rogers both of Indianapolis.

Friends may visit on Saturday, April 19th from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM at Neal & Summers Mortuary. A celebration of life service will follow visitation at 3:00 PM at the mortuary. He will be laid to rest in Centennial Cemetery in Martinsville.
