| | | Mary L. Bastin, 80, Martinsville, died at 9:15 a.m. Friday, May 30th, 2008, at Grandview Healthcare Center in Martinsville.
Born July 12th, 1927, in Morgan County, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Grace (Bolin) Briant.
She married William Max Bastin on November 30th, 1946. He died September 30th, 2002.
She was a cook for the Martinsville High School for 22 years, retiring in 1989.
She was of the Christian faith and a 1946 graduate of Monrovia High School.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially traveling with her husband, Max. She was an avid reader, and painter and enjoyed crocheting.
She is survived by two sons, Max E. and Maurice D. Bastin, both of Martinsville; three daughters, Brenda Brittain of Martinsville, Wanda Buis of Tucson, Ariz. and Kitsy D. Carpenter of Paragon; two brothers, George and Robert Briant, both of Martinsville; eight grandchildren, Jeff Brittain, Julie Minton, Laura Carpenter, Shelly Kleiman, Christine Meyer, Katie Johnson, Brandon Bastin and Sara Palmer; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Abbie Goss, and two sisters, Virginia Edwards and Wilma Cunningham.
A service celebrating her life will be on Monday, June 2nd, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Neal and Summers Mortuary in Martinsville. Friends may visit from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday at the mortuary. She will be laid to rest in New South Park Cemetery in Martinsville.
