| | | Evelyn C. Baker, 86, Martinsville, died at 8:35 p.m. April 18, 2004, at Morgan Hospital & Medical Center in Martinsville.
The daughter of the late Harry and Catherine (Bolin) Coffman, she was born July 26, 1917, in Gosport. She was the widow of Chet Baker, whom she married in 1938. He died in 1978.
Baker was a homemaker.
She was a charter member of Emmanuel Apostolic Church in Martinsville and a member of the Prime Timers at Emmanuel Apostolic Church.
Her family said she exhibited the love of a mother and grandmother to her nieces and nephews and their children.
She is survived by her sister, Lucille Stidd, Martinsville.
Two brothers, Floyd and Kenneth Coffman, and a sister, Esther Hancock, all preceded her in death.
The service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Emmanuel Apostolic Church, 1320 Morton Avenue, Martinsville. The Rev. Mark Abernathy will officiate. Burial will be in New South Park Cemetery in Martinsville.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Neal & Summers Mortuary in Martinsville and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the church.
