| | | The Rev. John T. Baker, 80, Martinsville, died at 8:26 a.m. May 2, 2004, at Grandview Convalescent Center in Martinsville.
The son of the late Ilif J. and Inez M. (Murray) Baker, he was born Jan. 20, 1924, in Morgan County. His wife, Mildred J. (Feazel) Baker, whom he married Oct. 31, 1948, survives.
Rev. Baker retired from Chrysler in 1984, after over 30 years. He also was a retired ordained minister and pastored at St. Clair and Shelby St. Wesleyan Church, both in Indianapolis, Cicero Wesleyan, Lebanon Wesleyan and Carthage Wesleyan. Also Brown's Chapel and Greenfield Wesleyan Churches, both in Greenfield, and Mechanicsburg Wesleyan Church, Mechanicsburg, Ind., and Mt. Carmel Community Church in Gnawbone.
He attended Bethel Wesleyan Church in Martinsville and was a member of the Wesleyan Church in Mooresville.
He attended Union Township School in Johnson County and had received four years of minister's study.
He especially enjoyed evangelizing, singing and attending church.
Other survivors include a daughter, Cathy L. Galvin, Lebanon; a brother, Robert L. Baker, Martinsville; a sister, Phyllis J. Baker, and two grandsons, Jason D. and Jeremy A. Galvin.
Two daughters, Pamela K. and Kimberly S. Baker; two grandchildren, Steffanie L. and Justin D. Galvin; a brother, Howard E. Baker, and a sister, Frances I. Baker, all preceded him in death.
The service will be 10:30 a.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene, 1609 John R. Wooden Drive, Martinsville. Burial will be in Centennial Cemetery in Martinsville.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Neal & Summers Mortuary in Martinsville and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday at the church.
