| | | Richard W. Alvey, 66, Martinsville, died Nov. 15, 2004, at his residence.
Born Aug. 13, 1938, in Tell City, he was the son of the late Richard Clifton and the late Sarah (Alvey) Alvey. He married Margaret A. (Meyer) Alvey on Dec. 31, 1960. She survives, residing in Martinsville.
Alvey was a retired pipe fitter/welder with the Local 440 Plumbers and Steamfitters. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, photography, the outdoors, learning about history and was a master woodworker and also a master mechanic.
He served in the U.S. Army and National Guard.
Survivors include three sons, Richard W. Jr. and John David Alvey, both of Indianapolis and Jeffrey T. Alvey of Paragon; daughter, Martina R. Podgorski of Carmel; brothers, Ronald and Daniel Alvey and sisters, Catherine, Kay, Rosalie and Helen; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Dean Alvey.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, at Neal & Summers Mortuary. Cremation will follow.
There will be no calling hours.
