Kelly Dean "Treeman" Bastin, 46, Paragon, died at 11:35 a.m. Nov. 29, 2004, as the result of injuries sustained in an auto accident.

The son of Deloris Mae "Sookie" (Bastin) Ellis, Avon, and the late Jack Allen Hayden, he was born Sept. 19, 1958, in Martinsville.

Bastin was a caregiver for Dr. Charles Gott and was previously employed by Quantum Mechanics in Bloomington.

He attended the New Life Christian Church in Paragon.

He was a member of the Indiana Archaeology Society; Indiana Artifact Society and several national archaeology societies. He was an educational facilitator for the Indiana Artifact Society.

He was a member of the Martinsville High School Class of 1977.

He enjoyed mushroom and artifact hunting, spelunking, history and playing military war games.

Other survivors include a stepson, Evan Nicola and a stepdaughter, Angela Marie Nicola, both of Bloomington, and his fiancée, Melissa (Gott) Nicola, Gosport.

Grandparents, Gib and Shirley Bastin, also preceded him in death.

The service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Neal & Summers Mortuary in Martinsville. Elders Gary Brinson and David Tolle, will officiate. Burial will be at Friendship Park Cemetery in Paragon.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until time of the funeral Friday at the funeral home.
