Nicholas W. “Nick” Hammans, 27, Martinsville, died at 5:25 p.m. December 7, 2005, at Morgan Hospital & Medical Center in Martinsville.

The son of Roland W. “Rolly” and Sue E. (Stiles) Hammans, Martinsville, he was born Jan. 24, 1978, in Martinsville.

Hammans was disabled due to an automobile accident 11 years ago. Prior to the accident, he worked for Marsh Supermarket in Martinsville.

He was a member of St. Martin of Tour’s Catholic church, where he had also served as an alter boy.

He was a student with the Class of 1996 and active in wrestling and cross country while attending Martinsville High School.

He enjoyed mountain bike riding, fishing and hunting.

Other survivors include a sister, Leanna Arnold, Avon; paternal grandfather, Joe Hammans, and maternal grandparents, Harold and Pat Stiles, all of Martinsville.

His paternal grandmother, LaVerne Cornett, also preceded him in death.

The funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, 2005, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Martinsville. Father John Hall will officiate. Burial will be in St. Martin of Tours Catholic Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Neal & Summers Mortuary in Martinsville.
