Edith V. Beals, 91, of Martinsville, died Sept. 3, 2006, at Grandview Manor, Martinsville.

She was born Feb. 12, 1915, in Brown County to the late Wilbur Mann and Nora (Wells) Mann.

She married Frank E. Beals Sr. Dec. 30, 1931, and he died April 2, 1998.

Survivors include one son, Frank E. Beals Jr. of Belleveu, Neb.; two daughters, Frances E. Blankenship Egan, Martinsville, and Phyllis Beals Sanders Neer of Greenwood; 11 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and eight step-grandchildren, 10 great great-grandchildren and three step great great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five sisters, Dorothy DeRolf, Esta Polley, Vina Cole Ericso, Mary Harding and Jesse Reynolds; three brothers, Roy, Walter and John Mann; one infant brother and one step granddaughter.

Beals was a homemaker and a member of Lynhurst Baptist Church in Indianapolis. She was also a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary.

She enjoyed gardening, sewing and fishing.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Neal & Summers Mortuary in Martinsville. Calling is Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the mortuary.

Burial will be at Greenlawn Mausoleum in Martinsville.
