| | | Kathleen (Burns) Callahan Wilkinson, 82, Martinsville, died at 1:15 p.m. Nov. 25, 2006, at Harborside Healthcare Decatur in Indianapolis.
Born Nov. 22, 1924, in Martinsville, she was the daughter of the late Sherman and Kate (Owens) Burns.
She was the widow of Walter Wilkinson, who died in 1989.
She was a secretary at School #19 in Indianapolis for 17 years, retiring in 1983.
She was a 1942 graduate of Manual High School in Indianapolis.
She studied music in her younger years and sang with the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Prospect chapter, Indianapolis and was a Bethel Guardian of Job’s Daughters, Bethel 4.
She had been a member of the Garfield United Church of Christ in Indianapolis and had attended Liberty Christian Church in Martinsville.
Survivors included two daughters, Sharon Copenhaver of Colorado and Janie Klank of Indianapolis; a son, Patrick Callahan of Zionsville; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Schilling, Jill and Janene Copenhaver, Jana Woodard, Brad Smith, Courtney Redman and Craig and Caitlin Callahan; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Jack, Floyd and Forest Burns; and four sisters, Gladys Bailey, Carrie Kermeen, Inez Dixon and Margie Moore.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Neal & Summers Mortuary in Martinsville. The Rev. Kevin Able will officiate.
Visiting hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. today and 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.
Burial will be in New South Park Cemetery in Martinsville.
