George F. Alexander, 80, Martinsville, died at 10 a.m. Dec. 9, 2006, at St. Francis Hospital and Health Center in Indianapolis.

Born Oct. 24, 1926, in Indianapolis, he was the son of the late George and Helen Marie (Ragan) Alexander.

He married Marcelene "Kay" (Daffron) Alexander April 23, 1950. She survives in Martinsville.

He was a general contractor, an avid pilot and field specialist and the president of International Christian Broadcasters.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

He loved flying and promoting the gospel.

Other survivors include a daughter, Charlene Emerson of Martinsville; three sons, Charles, Matt and Sean Alexander; a brother, Michael Stanley Alexander of Esparto, Calif.; a foster sister, Rose Ellen Dalton of Indianapolis; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Marianne Deppert; a sister, Colleen Ruth Miles; and two brothers, Charles Lynburg and Jimmy Alexander.

The graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Centerton Cemetery. The Rev. Marlin Savage will officiate.

There will be no calling.

Neal & Summers mortuary in Martinsville is in charge of arrangements.
