Michael James Bodnar, 86, a resident of Martinsville for the past nine years, formerly of Chicago, IL, died August 10, 2009 at 6:50 pm at the Monroe Hospital in Bloomington, IN.

The son of Michael & Anne (Kohlar) Bodnar was born September 4, 1922 in Clinton, IN.

He married Myra Stewart of Martinsville on September 21, 1996. He is also survived by one son; William Bodnar, Naples, FL, one daughter; Patricia Andrasco, Alsip, IL, three step daughters; Rachael Henson, Indianapolis, IN Heather & Holly Reed both of Martinsville, IN, one sister; Caroline Mueller, Oak Lawn, IL, 5 grandchildren, 11 step grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and 1 step great grandchild.

He was predeceased by one brother; John Bodnar and one step sister; Sharon Malone

He retired from Ragnar-Benson Construction Company in Chicago, IL and was co-owner, with his wife, of Myra’s Knit & Crochet Shoppe in Martinsville, IN.

He served his country in the US Navy during WWII and he enjoyed reading and socializing.

Friends may visit Friday, August 14, 2009 from 5-7pm at the Neal & Summers Funeral & Cremation Center, Martinsville. Father John Hall will officiate at a celebration of life memorial service beginning Friday, August 14th at 7:00 pm at the funeral home.

Father Thomas Cabala will officiate at a committal service for burial of cremains on Monday, August 17th at 1:00 pm at the Holy Sepucher Cemetery in Alsip, IL.
