| | | Deborah Jean Nash, 54, of Las Vegas, NV passed from this life on Monday, September 21, 2009 at the Valley Hospital in Las Vegas.
She was born on August 2, 1955 in Evansville, Indiana to the late Jack R. Nash and Mary (Frohbieter) Nash Record surviving in Martinsville.
She spent her childhood in Martinsville and was a graduate of Martinsville High School with the class of 1973. She studied political science at the University of Evansville for three years following high school and one year at the Harlaxton University in England.
She had a love for animals and decided to get involved in grooming and showing dogs. She began studying the industry and affiliating herself with the best in the business in Indiana, Florida, New Jersey, Connecticut and New Hampshire. Through connections and experience she began grooming for the Westminster Dog Show over the eastern half of the country. In addition to dog grooming and dog shows, she owned and operated her own successful business, Virtual Marketing, for over 14 years in Las Vegas.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed reading encyclopedias from cover to cover. Other interests included doing counted cross stitch, swimming and playing clarinet. She also loved to learn about Greek Mythology and the renaissance period and was active with members of a group who would organize reenactments. She and her dog, Sugar, were members of the Great Danes of America Organization.
She was a member and grew up attending the First United Methodist Church in Martinsville. As a child, she would often ask questions in Sunday school class that her teachers were unable to answer. During her residency in Evansville, she attended the St. Lucas United Church of Christ.
She was a devoted aunt to her nieces and nephews, Suzanne and Nathan Cox, Mary Hayes and Mark Mendenhall, Jack, Marcia, Travis and Joshua Nash.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jack Nash; grandparents, Irl and Lula Nash and Edwin and Sudie Frohbieter; uncle, Wayne Mueller; aunt, Gayle Frohbieter; nephew, Christopher Nash and great niece, Samantha Jo Mendenhall.
Survivors include her mother and step-father, Mary & William J. Record, Jr. of Martinsville; siblings, Kimberly (Dave) Mendenhall of Greenville, SC, Lynne (John) Cox of Martinsville, and Keith (Maria) Nash of Holly Springs, NC; special friend, Linda Bartose of Las Vegas, NV; step-sisters, Robin (Bob) Sundstrom of Maidens, VA and Jeanne (Frank) Smith of Stonewall, LA; step-brother, Bill (Elissa) Record of Vista, CA; aunt, Jo Mueller; uncles, Ed (Marge) Frohbieter, Jack (Cathy) Frohbieter and Gene (Ann) Frohbieter; great niece, Rebecca Hayes and great nephew, Conner Nash.
Family and friends are encouraged to attend a memorial service celebrating Debbie’s life on Saturday, October 3rd, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church on Highway 37N in Martinsville.
The family requests that contributions be made in lieu of flowers to the Morgan County Humane Society, 690 Mitchell Avenue, Martinsville, IN 46151 in Debbie’s honor.
