| | | George Wesley Beck, 82, of Martinsville, passed from this life on October 11, 2009 at 4:50 pm at the Grandview Health & Rehabilitation in Martinsville.
He was born August 19, 1927 to the late George Gilbert Beck and Velma Myrle (Alley) Beck in Johnson County, Indiana.
On May 16, 1946 he married Joan (Fowler) Beck in Trafalgar, Indiana. To this union was born one son, Don.
Mr. Beck leaves behind his wife of 63 years, Joan Beck of Martinsville; son and daughter-in-law, Don and Judy Beck of Martinsville; two grandsons, Wesley Beck and Jeff (Sheila) Beck; and two great grandchildren, Ryan Christopher & Katherine Mary Beck.
He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Clifton and William Eugene Beck and three sisters, Olga Allen, Opal McClain and Ruby Jeanette Keane.
In 1953, he moved to Martinsville from Trafalgar and made Morgan County his home. He became very involved in the community serving as director of the Morgan County Planning and Building Commission. He also held a membership in the Masonic Lodge #74 F & AM and attended Eastview Christian Church in Martinsville.
He was a previous co-owner and operator of Beck Plumbing and Beck Contracting both in Martinsville and was a school bus driver for the Metropolitan School District of Martinsville for many years.
Friends are encouraged to visit Wednesday, October 14th from 5-8 pm and Thursday, October 15th one hour prior to service at Neal & Summers Funeral & Cremation Center, Martinsville. A celebration of life service officiated by Rev. Norman Ward will begin at 11:00 am on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Nebo Memorial Park Cemetery, Martinsville.
