Charles D. Kent, 69, Danville, formerly of Martinsville, passed from this life on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at 4:12 a.m. at the Danville Regional Rehabilitation Center.
He was born on June 10, 1940 in Martinsville, Indiana to the late Victor Kent and Esther M. (Hacker) Hatley.
Charles was a Martinsville High School graduate with the class of 1958 and a member of the North Liberty Christian Church in Indianapolis.
During the 1960’s he worked at Schwab’s IGA in Martinsville before moving to Indianapolis. Soon after moving to Indianapolis he began working for Central Hardwares as a department manager, serving with the company for many years. During the late 1990’s, he began a 5 year career in sales with Lowes in Speedway.
He was an avid bowler and Colts football fan. He also enjoyed playing cards and making others smile with his keen sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by his one son, Brian Kent, in 2006 and his one daughter, Kimberly Kent, in 1981.
Survivors include two step sons, Bryan Agan of Plainfield, IN and Scott Agan of Arizona; one sister, Frances Fisher of Martinsville; two brothers, Edwin Kent of Martinsville and Alan Kent of Indianapolis; one grandchild; 5 step-grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren.
There will be a private memorial service at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Neal & Summers Funeral and Cremation Center in Martinsville.
