| | | Harold Eugene Day, 81, of Bloomington passed from this life on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at 1:38 a.m. at the Bloomington Hospital after an extended illness.
He was born on February 28, 1928 in Paragon, Indiana to the late Fremont and Bessie (Secrest) Day.
He was a graduate of Paragon High School with the class of 1947. Following high school graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He served with the Air Force until October 31st, 1959.
On June 14, 1947 he married Anna Eileen (Sloan) Day. She survives in Bloomington, Indiana.
He was a line inspector for Allison’s in Indianapolis and retired after 30+ years. Following his retirement from Allison’s he worked at Indiana University as a custodian.
His memberships include the Masonic Lodge #74 F & AM, where he served as Past Master, as well as, the Masonic Lodge #127 F & AM in Bloomington.
He was an avid stamp, rock and mineral collector and enjoyed genealogy.
He leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Anna E. Day; one son and daughter-in-law, James E. and Shawna Day of Bloomington; two brothers, Leopal Day of Kansas City, MO and Thomas Day of Indianapolis, IN; and four grandchildren, Nicholas, Anna, Haley and Mackenzie Day.
He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Friends are encouraged to visit on Thursday, October 29th from 5 -8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday at Neal & Summers Funeral and Cremation Center. Members of the Masonic Lodge will conduct a memorial service at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral center. Rev. Harold Carter will officiate will officiate a celebration of life service on Friday, October 30th at 2:00 p.m. at Neal & Summers. Burial with military honors will follow in New South Park Cemetery.
