Burial: St. John's Catholic Cemetery ~ Bancroft, Iowa

Betty Becker (Mary Elizabeth Ann Sheridan) was born on April 14, 1917 in Bancroft, IA. She was the daughter of James and Mayme (McDermott) Sheridan and one of six children. Betty graduated from St. John High School in 1934. She married Lawrence, the love of her life, on August 12, 1940 at St. John Catholic Church.

Betty was a loving and patient wife, mother, sister, grandma and friend. She was proud of her Irish Heritage, a devout Catholic, and a staunch Democrat. Betty enjoyed time spent with family and friends. She looked forward to weekend drives in the Cadillac, hunting for asparagus, trips to Estes Park, Co., Holidays, and watching Lawrence Welk after Saturday evening Mass. Betty took pride in her home, her job as a cashier at Farmers & Traders Savings Bank, and herself.

Betty, a lifelong Bancroft resident, passed away, Monday December 22, 2008, at the Heritage Home in Bancroft, IA at the age of 91. She had been a resident there since August, 2001. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers; James, John and Phil, two sisters; Mary Ann and Patricia, and husband Lawrence on August 22, 1998.

Holding within their hearts Betty’s warm smile, kind and gentle way, and her constant love are: her daughter, Becky Stacy and husband Galen of Pacific Junction; grandchildren Monica Lamberty and husband Dave of Villa Park, IL, Doug Stacy and wife Marnee of Batavia, IL, Gretchen Warnke and husband Kevin of Egan, MN; great grandchildren Brian, Eric, and Alyson Lamberty, Maggie and Katie Warnke, and step-great granddaughter Skylar Baldwin. Betty will also be warmly remembered by: Sister-in-law Neet Sheridan, nephews Pat, Tom, and Tim Sheridan, nieces Pam Reidel, Peggy Giffin and Lynn Salazar, along with extended family and friends.
