Alice Ann Barton was born November 25, 1936 to Ervin and Georgia Fern (Henderson) Barton near LuVerne on the family farm that her great-grandfather homesteaded. Alice was schooled in LuVerne then worked at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ft. Dodge as an aide then later at Friendship Haven in Ft. Dodge. She was employed as a private duty aide in Garner and in 1988 moved to Kossuth County Care Facility.
Alice was a charter member of Algona Hope Center and enjoyed singing, reading, writing and listening to religious and country music. She enjoyed telling stories and visiting with people.
Alice died on Thursday evening, January 27, 2005 at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona at the age of 68.
Survivors include her sister Virginia Broesder and husband Marvin of Lone Rock; sister-in-law Eleanor Barton of LuVerne; sister-in-law Ruth Barton, Ft. Dodge and brother-in-law Donald Kruse as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Alice Idella, and Elinor and brothers William and Earl.
