Melvin Joseph Alt was born January 12, 1916 at Stephen, Minnesota to Christ and Kate (Rinkenberger) Alt and moved to the Algona area during his childhood years. On January 16, 1980, Melvin married Myrtle Orvick Kueck with whom he shared his retirement years.
Over his lifetime Melvin enjoyed playing cards, his church, farming and raising livestock. He especially liked spending time and socializing with friends, family and seeing his grandchildren. Melvin was a quiet man who carried with him a pleasant smile and polite demeanor to the very end of his life.
