| | | | Myrtle Kueck Alt was born on August 13, 1918, on a farm near Bancroft, Iowa, to Sigurd and Bertha Orvick. She graduated from Seneca School. Myrtle worked for the Lawrence Dittmer family and they were her life-long friends and neighbors.
On December 17, 1939, Myrtle was married to Marvin Kueck. They farmed in the Lone Rock area. They were the parents of one daughter, Karen Kay. In 1950, Myrtle and Marvin bought their farm south of Lone Rock. Together they farmed until Marvins death on February 23, 1975. Myrtle then moved to her home in Burt. She worked at Exceptional Opportunities. On January 16, 1980, Myrtle married Melvin Alt. They were faithful members of the Good Hope Methodist Church. They enjoyed friends, family and grandchildren. They spent their final days together at Good Samaritan Communities in Algona. Melvin passed away on April 7, 2005.
After a 7 year battle with cancer, Myrtle died November 2, 2005, at the age of 87 at the Good Samaritan Communities in Algona.
Left to cherish Myrtless memory are her daughter, Karen Beer and husband, Robert, Okoboji, Iowa; step children, Elmer Alt and wife, Donna, Algona, Iowa, Trudy Dugan and husband, Richard, Algona, Iowa, Terry Alt and wife, Reggie, Algona, Iowa, Cindy Petersen and husband, Steve, Algona, Iowa; 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Also surviving are 2 brothers, Sam Orvick and wife, Corrine, Elmore, Minnesota, John Orvick and wife, Lois, Eagle Grove, Iowa and a special friend, Alice Luedtke, Lone Rock, Iowa.
Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents, Sigurd and Bertha Orvick and husbands, Marvin Kueck and Melvin Alt.
